The daily killer sudoku is the gentlest way to make the cage-sum variant a habit. Killer puzzles have no starting digits — only dashed cage outlines with target sums — and at the easy tier the cages are small (mostly 2-3 cells), so each one narrows the digits in a few quick steps. A 2-cell cage summing to 3 has to be {1,2}; a 3-cell cage summing to 24 is {7,8,9}. From there the standard sudoku rules (one of each digit per row, column, and 3×3 box) do most of the rest.
